PREZ SHOWS APPRECIATION TO ASHANTI VOTERS

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has thanked the people of the Ashanti region, particularly the NPP faithful for their high turnout and massive votes for him and candidates of the party during last December’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections. 

President Akufo-Addo admitted that it was the massive vote difference in the region in his favour served as the catalyst for NPP’s victory in the elections. 

He explained that his three-day visit to the Ashanti region was primarily to show his appreciation to the people for their extraordinary support.

 President Akufo-Addo said his government has begun implementing programmes and policies in keeping to his campaign promises.

He mentioned for instance that the 2017 Budget has earmarked funds for implementation of the free senior high education policy in September this year.

 The Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, assured the people of the Ashanti region that they will not be sidelined by the government which they have toiled to return to political power. 

According to him, the job-creation initiatives of the government will generate more than enough employment to enable the youth to earn income saying that the Youth Employment Agency alone plans to recruit more than 60 thousand youth in its modules this year. 

He appealed to the party faithful to be patient with the government as strategizes to implement its programmes and policies. 

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, said with the vision and plans of the government which are being implemented, the NDC should psyche themselves up to remain in opposition for a very long time. 

He thanked his colleague Regional Executives for their respective contribution towards the party’s election victory. 

He asked the members not to be tricked into exert pressure on the government by any group of people.
