Two persons have also been arrested and are
currently in the custody of the Kumasi Central Police helping with Police
investigations to unravel all the circumstances surrounding the concealment and
movement of the suspected narcotic substances from Kwame Danso in the Brong
Ahafo region with Kumasi as the final destination.
The Police personnel who
effected the arrest are said to have been offered a 10 thousand Ghana Cedi
bribe by the suspects to set them free.
The two persons in police custody are
Alex Kwabena Nuhu, driver of the water tanker that was being used to transport
the substances and a suspected accomplice, Martin Gyamfi.

The substances will later be
sent to the police forensic laboratory for confirmation to aid prosecution of
the suspects.
Addressing journalists in Kumasi about the arrest and other similar arrests, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCoP, Nathan Kofi Boakye explained that the Police Patrol
Team intercepted the vehicle at about 2 am today, Thursday August 6, 2015.
This followed a tip-off and when a search was conducted on
the vehicle, the consignment was discovered.
DCoP Kofi Boakye said the 10
thousand Ghana Cedi cash offered as bribe after the arrest is with the Police and would be used as exhibit during
prosecution of the matter.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has
mounted several police operations and swoops that have already led to the
arrest of about a hundred suspects believed to be involved in various nefarious
activities and terrorizing residents in the region, particularly the capital,
Kumasi.
The suspects include those believed to have taken part in certain
murder cases, car snatching syndicate as well as pick-pocketing around the
Kejetia lorry terminal.
The Regional Commander, DCoP Kofi Boakye told newsmen
that for those suspected to be pick-pockets around Kejetia, their biometric
features such as finger prints and photographs will be compiled in an album to
help the Police in their future criminals identification.
