KMA EJECTS TRADERS FROM KEJETIA TERMINAL

The scene at the Kejetia Terminal in Kumasi this morning was that of dejection, disappointment and frustration as the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, KMA, has had to forcibly eject traders plying their businesses.  At the time of Ashanti Today’s visited the Terminal reports that the traders were taken aback when they reported early in the morning to start their trading only to realize that the entire terminal had been barricaded amidst heavy security presence with no room for any vehicle to enter. The measure is meant to prepare the place for actual work to start on the redevelopment of the Kejetia Terminal being the first phase of the comprehensive Central Market reconstruction project.  Eyewitnesses told Ashanti Today that the KMA used barely two hours from about 1 am today, to complete the fence around the terminal. 38 YR OLD CHAIRS ASHANTI CPP

A 38-year old professional teacher, Emmanuel Gallo, has been elected the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party, CPP.  Mr. Gallo polled 281 of out of the 327 total votes cast to beat his two contenders, R. O. Frimpong who managed only 29 of the votes while A.S. Osei Yaw   had just 17.  The incumbent Regional Secretary and Lecturer at the College of Technology or the University of Education, Winneba, Daniel Essien lost to one Issah Abdul Salam.  While Sallam had 247 of the votes, Essien could only poll 78. CPP WITHDRAWS CANDIDATE FOR TALENSI BYE-ELECTION

The National Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party, CPP, Samia Yaba Nkrumah, has announced the withdrawal of the party’s candidate for the upcoming Parliamentary bye-election in the Talensi Constituency in the Upper East region scheduled for the 7 th of next month.  Instead, the CPP has thrown its support behind the candidate being put forward by the People’s National Convention, PNC and has assured of fully campaigning for that candidate to boost his chances of winning the Talensi seat for the Nkrumahist parties.  Madam Samia Nkrumah announced this in Kumasi during the Ashanti Regional Delegates Congress of the CPP. INSTITUTE OF JEWELRY AND TECHNOLOGY FOR TEPA

LISTOWEL DARES GJA

The embattled Ashanti Regional GJA Chairman, Listowel Yesu Bukarson says the Ghana Journalists’ Association is yet to formally communicate the its decision asking him to step down to him.  According to him, he has only heard of the issue through the media adding that when contacted this morning, the National President of the Association, Affail Monney denied making any such claim.  He has also challenged the leadership of the Association to invoke the law that bars him from contesting a parliamentary seat on the ticket of a political party, if there is any.     Mr. Bukarson was speaking to GBC’s Garden City Radio in Kumasi in reaction to a decision by the GJA asking him to step aside for allegedly violating the Association’s ethics.  But Mr. Bukarson emphasized that he will be surprised if the rumours is eventually confirmed.  According to him, any such decision will be against the tenets of the current Constitution of the Association since, according to him
