  Mad.Yaa Manu-Obuasi Municipal Director of Health during the interview The Obuasi Municipality in the Ashanti region is making substantial gains in the effort toward the target of eliminating malaria by the 2030.   The municipality has seen consistent reduction in both reported and confirmed cases across all registered healthcare facilities since 2018. Data obtained from major hospitals sampled and the Municipal Health directorate have showed that, not only has Malaria lost its unenviable long standing record as the number one cause of hospital attendance and admission during the four-year period, but has not led to the death of either an infant or woman. POOR ATTITUDES FRUSTRATING MALARIA FIGHT IN ASANTE AKYEM NORTH DISTRICT

According to data sourced from the District Health directorate has revealed that, since 2020, the disease has claimed the lives of three infants even though there is no such record readily available about maternal mortality from the disease during the period under review. In the observation of the District Director of Health, though enough of the nets have been distributed to the targeted population up to date, poor behaviour and attitude among the people is responsible for the undesirable outcome so far. SUSTAINABLE MEASURES ACTIVATED TO PROTECT LAKE BOSOMTWE

A group photograph of some of  the farmers, project partners Following research findings that Ghana’s biggest natural lake, Lake Bosomtwe, is gradually yielding to the harsh impacts of both climate change and harmful human practices for which the volume of water is receding while fish population and species are fast dwindling, some concerned organizations have teamed up to protect the important biosphere and heritage.   Pursuant to this, selected catchment communities of the lake are being empowered with sustainable alternative livelihood to reduce over dependence and excessive exploitation of the lake. One of the farmers(left) being honoured for hardwork About 800 crop farmers selected from eight communities around Lake Bosomtwe have been empowered with new and improved technologies in farming practices that under the Climate Resilience for Bosomtwe Smallholder Farmers. They are to transfer the new superior farming technologies to about two thousand others within their environs.
