ASHANTI NDC VETTING-TWO DISQUALIFIED SO FAR

Dr. Sarpong after the vetting The NDC yesterday began the vetting of its Parliamentary aspirants from about in the Ashanti region ahead of the November 7 nation-wide Presidential and Parliamentary elections.  Aspirants from 27 out of the 47 Constituencies went through the process. The aspirants took turns to answer probing questions from members of the Vetting Committee which included some National, Regional and Constituency executives of the party.  Among those who went through the process were the Managing Director of the State Housing Company, Dr. Samuel Sarpong who is one the three contenders in the Nhyiaeso Constituency,   Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the only aspirant for the Asawase, the Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, Ofori Agyemang, Obuasi East and the MCE of Asante Bekwai, Madam Mary Jantuah .    A source at the Vetting has revealed to news men that so far two aspirants have been disqualified from the race for various questionable deeds.  Mr.

ASHANTI NDC ASPIRANTS UNDERGO SCREENING TOMORROW

NDC emblem The National Democratic Congress has scheduled the vetting in the Parliamentary primaries in the Ashanti region for tomorrow and Wednesday at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council in Kumasi.  Ninety-seven members of the party who completed and filed their nomination documents in their quest to contest in the party’s November 7 nation-wide primaries are facing stiff contest.  Some of the aspirants are going unopposed.  The aspirants who are from more than 40 Constituencies in the region, have been grouped into seven batches with the vetting of aspirants in each batch slated to last for two hours.  A statement signed by the Regional Secretary of the Party, Raymond Tannor and issued to the media said the first batch to go through the vetting will involve aspirants from the Offinso North, Ejura, Ahafo Ano North, Afigya Kwabre North, Ahafo Ano South West and South East and will last from 9am to 11 am.  Vetting in the Ashanti region was postponed

BRITISH, NIGERIAN HIGH COMMISSIONERS PAY HOMAGE TO ASANTEHENE

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11 A large number of both Ghanaians and foreign nationals today, Sunday September 27, thronged the Manhyia Palace to pay homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu to commemorate the last-but-one Akwasidae of this year.  Among the dignitaries who used the occasion to show solidarity to Asantehene were the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin and his Nigerian counterpart, Adewola Oluseyi Onafowokan, and a delegation of the descendants of the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyemang from the Seychelles Islands.  Also at the durbar grounds to pay homage to Otumfuo Osei Tutu were politicians such the Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi-Mensah, security capos, religious leaders among other highly ranked members of the society.  Some of them presented gifts ranging from vehicles for the Otumfuo Charity Foundation, rams, drinks and cash donations to pay homage to the Asantehene.
