FRAUDSTERS BUSTED IN KUMASI

The three arrested members of the syndicate
The Police in the Ashanti region have arrested three men believed to members of a syndicate based in Accra and Kumasi that dupes unsuspecting members of the public of their cash. They are Joseph Osei, Yaw Koranteng and Kwabena Boakye.

Two of their suspected accomplices, Evelyn Prempeh and David Appiah are however on the run.

Their victims are people who express genuine interest to purchase one of the syndicate’s vehicles which are paraded as being for sale with a mobile phone number.

Addressing the media in Kumasi, DCOP Kofi Boakye said one of their victims, Gideon Afriyie Tuffuor, a trader at Heman near Kumasi made a complaint of his ordeal to the Police last month.

Mr. Tuffuor paid 17 thousand 500 Ghana Cedis to the syndicate in exchange for a Toyota Corolla salon car offered to him by the syndicate.

The complainant said Kwabena Boakye claimed to be owner of the vehicle with registration number GR 1938-14.

When they later met, Boakye said the vehicle belonged to his supposed wife, Evelyn Prempeh to whom the money was handed over at Bomso in Kumasi.

He later realized that the people he was dealing with were in to defraud him and subsequently reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the three on the second of this month.
