READ ACTUAL GHEITI 2014 REPORT ON MINING, OIL & GAS

Government received an amount of 972 million, 92 thousand, 848 Ghana Cedis as against a reported payment of 972 million, 787 thousand, 529 Ghana Cedis by mining companies in 2014.  However, a final net discrepancy of 694 thousand, 681 Ghana Cedis was recorded by the Ghana Extractive Industries’ Transparency Initiative, GHEITI. DR. NDUOM ENDS ASHANTI CAMPAIGN TOUR

The Flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom has urged Ghanaians to ignore the empty promises of his opponents and vote for the one who doesn’t promise but delivers.  Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom said while some of his opponents are making promises, he has already established banks in all 216 districts in the country.  He made this declaration while addressing party faithful at Ejisu, Manhyia North and Nhyiaeso constituencies in the Ashanti Region as part of his campaign tour.     Dr. Nduom called on Ghanaians to ignore both the National Democratic Congress party and New Patriotic Party and rather vote PPP for massive development in the economy.  He said PPP will ensure quality health care, road construction, education and proper sanitation system for Ghanaians when voted into power come December 7.   Dr. Nduom said with Obuasi been one of the communities in Ghana that produces gold, he promised to construct a gold refinery there.  With the gold refinery i

2014 GHEITI REPORT ON MINING, OIL&GAS OUT

The Ministry of Petroleum has asked the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, GHEITI, the local chapter of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, to reposition itself to take advantage of the commencement of oil production from the Tweneboa, Enyera and Ntonme, TEN, as well as the expected production of oil from the Sankofa Gye Nyame fields by next year, to expand its scope in the oil and gas industry.  According to the Ministry, Parliament last month passed the Petroleum Exploration and Production law after five years of public engagement to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of Ghana’s petroleum resources.  The Chief Director of the Ministry, Professor Thomas Akabzaa gave the advice at Obuasi during the opening of a two-day dissemination workshop on the 2014 GHEITI Report on mining and the Oil and Gas sectors.  Professor Akabzaa noted that the Petroleum Revenue Management Act has as well been promulgated to provide guid

GHS INTRODUCES 'TASK SHARING INITIATIVE' IN ASH.

The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has held an orientation meeting on Task Sharing Initiative to improve maternal health.  The programme aims to train Community Health Nurses and Enrolled Nurses on a six-week course as Midwife Assistants due to inadequate midwives at lower levels of service delivery.  According to the Ashanti Regional Chief Nursing Officer, Madam Rita Esi Anafu, while efforts are being made to reduce maternal mortality, the efforts are being hampered by inadequate number of midwives who work to improve on maternal and child health.     Madam Anafu said, the task sharing initiative, when implemented, will reduce maternal morbidity and mortality since the services of Community and Enrolled Nurses self-directed learning programme will be recognized when there is no midwife around.  She said, the Community and Enrolled nurses will render comprehensive Maternal and Child Health education to pregnant and lactating mothers.  Madam Anafu noted also that the ini

WE ARE POISED TO MAINTAIN PEACE-INTERIOR MINISTRY
