NPP ELECTS BODOMASE NATIVE IN A BID TO RETAIN VACANT KUMAWU PARLIAMENTARY SEAT

  Mr. Ernest Anim-NPP's candidate for the Kumawu Parliamentary 2023 By-Election, addressing journalists after the primaries. Rulling New Patriotic Party, NPP has held its primaries which has chosen one Ernest Yaw Anim from Bodomase as its Candidate for next month's By-election at Kumawu in the Ashanti region.   Mr. Anim polled 195 out of the 419 votes cast to emerge as the winner but was keenly contested by the only female aspirant, Madam Ama Serwaa, who lost the contest with 181 of the valid votes, 18 less than what the eventual winner had. ISLAMIC SHS GETS MORE THAN THEY ASKED FOR

It would be recalled that in July 2022, students of the Islamic Snr High School located at Abrepo in the Bantama Sub Metro of Kumasi went on a demonstration and blocked a portion of the Abrepo Junction-Barekese road. The protest, which later turned violent, was after formal complaints via letters to duty bearer including the Ashanti regional Coordination Council, had failed to get the required response to protect students, staff and visitors to the school located along the road from vehicular knock downs that resulted in injuries to student and staff victims over the years.   In the heat of the demonstration, the students clashed with armed police personnel deployed to protect life amd property when Teargas and rubber bullets were fired at the students. IMPENDING BY-ELECTION-KUMAWU IN PERSPECTIVE AS RULING NPP ROLLS UP SLEEVE

 The ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP has opened Nomination for aspirants for its Candidate for the impending By-Election at Kumawu in the Ashanti region.  The Nomination, which opened Tuesday April 11, will close on Friday April 14 after which the party will vet the aspirants to eventually select its Parliamentary Candidate for the election which date is yet to be fixed by the Electoral Commission.  The by-election at Kumawu has become necessary following the official declaration of the seat vacant by the Speaker of Parliament as a result of the death of the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Mr. Philip Basoah last month.  The late Mr. Basoah won the Parliamentary elections during the 2020 national polls with a votes tally of 14 thousand, 960 representing 51 point-one percent beating his closest challenger, Mr. kwaku Duah, an Independent Candidate, who had 11 thousand, 698 of the votes representing 39 point-nine-six percent while the NDC's candidate, Mr. Bernard Opoku Marfo

 NDC APPROVES ALL 85 PARLIAMENTARY ASPIRANTS, 6 UNOPPOSED, 11 CONSTITUENCIES ON HOLD IN  ASHANTI All 85 aspiring Parliamentary Candidates of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC vetted for the party’s primaries have been given the green card to contest in the internal elections. A Senior Nursing Officer at the Church of Christ Mission Hospital in Kumasi, Mrs. Patricia Ataa Adjei, has confirmed that indeed, some hypertension medications could cause impotence in men.  However, there is a remedy for such side effects if the patient would promptly report back to his care giver. According to her, observations made by clinicians over time has revealed that, some men living with Hypertension refuse to take their medications with the fear that, the drugs would render them impotent. MAN KILLED FOR ALLEGEDLY ATTEMPTING TO STEAL KIA GRAND BIRD VIP BUS

  A man believed to be in his mid-30s has been lynched at Asafo in Kumasi by a mob. The man was accused of attempting to steal one of the Grand Bird buses belonging to the V.I.P.   Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye-Dir. Gen. of Gh.Health Serv. The Director General of the  Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, has disclosed that, 41 percent of the 30 million Ghanaians are living with psychological distress with about 16 thousand suffering from severe mental illness with some on the streets.  According him, one out of every 10 citizens presently has some form of metal disorder saying that, mental health alone costs the national economy about seven percent of the Gross Domestic Product, GDP. Dr. Kuma-Aboagye made this known at a Conference organized by the Christian Service University College.   The Asokwa Circuit Court near Kumasi in the shanti region has granted bail to the Suame Constituency NDC Youth Organizer, Razak Koampa Avoliya with two sureties to justify. SIGN LANGUAGE BIBLE IN GHANA VERY SOON-BSG ASSURES

The Bible Society of Ghana is to translate the Holy Bible into both Sign Language and Braille to serve the spiritual needs of persons with hearing and sight impairment. Additionally, the Society is translating the Bible into more local dialects including Efutu Senyase, Okere and Bono languages to encourage access and reading of the sacred book.  The Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Oversight Committee of the Bible Society of Ghana, Apostle Dr. Isaac Osei Boakye Yiadom, made this known to GBCNews in Kumasi at the launch of this year’s edition of the Bible Week celebration. “The projects that we’re undertaking is the sign language Bible. What is important is for such children to do activities relative to their ages under the supervision of a responsible adult without compromising on the safety, health, formal education and physical development of the child. SDA PASTOR AND 3 OTHERS KILLED IN A GORY ACCIDENT AT ACHINA

Four persons, including a man identified as a Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, SDA, have been killed in a road accident that occurred at Achina in Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti region.  This was after a tipper truck rammed into the private Mercedes Benz salon vehicle being driven by the Pastor. According to eye witnesses' account, two other persons also sustained injuries in the accident which happened at about 12 midday today, yesterday Tuesday January 31, 2023, have been sent to the Hospital for medical attention. MOTHER AND TWO DAUGHTERS PERISH IN DOMESTIC FIRE

A woman and her two daughters have been burnt to death in the Ashanti region. The incident occurred early today when the house in which they were sleeping caught fire. According to neighbors and eye witnesses, the fire broke out at the family house around 3am today, Wednesday February 1, 2023. The three-bedroom house is located at Nso Nyame Y3, a suburb of Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality in the Ashanti region.   Eye witness account has it that it took neighbors hours to fight the inferno before they were later joined by the Ghana National Fire Service. But, the efforts were not enough to save a 28-year old mother of two, Abigail Manu, and her children from succumbing to the fire. The two deceased daughters are Nora Yeboah, nine years and Philippa Yeboah, six years. NATIONAL AMBULANCE SERVICE RECEIVES 3.7 MILLION PRANK CALLS IN 2022, 110, 000 GENUINE EMERGENCY CALLS IN 3YRS

  Dr. Foster Ansong-Director of Operations, National Ambulance Service The National Ambulance Service says it received about three point-seven million(3.7m) prank calls in a year. Ironically, the Service received a total of 110 thousand genuine emergency calls in a three-year period spanning 2020-2022. According to the Director of Operations of the National Ambulance Service, Dr. Foster Ansong, the prank calls impede people in emergency situations from easily accessing the service thereby thwarting real time response to emergency situations to save lives. Dr. Ansong disclosed this to a section of the media at Kenyase in the Kwabre East Municipality in the Ashanti region during an interview.
