'FAIR WAGES AND SALARIES COMMISSION UNDESERVING OF ITS NAME'-PSWU

Mr. John Sampah-Deputy General Secretary of PSWU addressing GBC DEC
The Public Services Workers Union of the Ghana Trades Union Congress, PSWU, has taken a swipe against the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, FWSC and the government for discriminating against public sector workers in the negotiation and administration of salaries and Allowances, a tendency the Union considers to be a deliberate orchestration to deny a certain category of workers their due.

The Deputy General Secretary of the PSWU, John Sampah, speaking at a forum in Kumasi strongly chastised the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission for refusing to negotiate Institution Specific Allowances that could earn the staff their deserved salary adjustment for no cogent reason while in other instances, some staff at the Finance Ministry and the seat of government are granted some questionable Allowances, a situation he notes, has severely undermined the name ‘Fair’ in the name of the Commission.

He was addressing GBC’s Divisional Union’s Executive Council Meeting.
