KUMAWU: EMULATE NDC IF YOU WANT US TO TRUST YOU - CHIEFS TELL NPP GOV'T.

The chiefs in the Kumawu traditional area in the Ashanti region have scolded the various NPP governments for neglecting the area in terms of socio-economic development in an apparent ingratitude for the people's continued loyalty to the party.

The traditional leaders minced no words in recognizing and appreciating the enormous projects the past NDC regimes have brought in the district even though that party does not enjoy the level of support the NPP continues to get from the inhabitants during elections.

The chiefs and a sub queen mother made the point in unison at the private residence of the Omanhene, Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua at Kumawu when the Minister for Road and Highways, Mr. Kwasi Amoako Atta, called on them to introduce JOSHOB as the selected Construction firm to execute construction of the Effiduase-Kumawu-Woraso road as well as 5 kilometres of the Kumawu town roads.

The Omanhene received the Minister and his entourage.

All the chiefs who spoke at the meeting emphasized that major development projects in the geographical area were started and completed or got to an appreciable stage by previous NDC government but the NPP had almost nothing to show for over the years and warned, that if the situation does not change for the better anytime soon, the people would be compelled to re-think their political position, especially going into next year's Presidential and Parliamentary polls.

They referred to, in particular, the 'K-3' Water Project that has resolved permanently their hitherto acute portable water supply situation, existing tarred link roads and the stalled Kumawu District Hospital to back their stance.

They hoped that information that some  roads in the vicinity are to be constructed is not a ploy because of the impending By-Election coming on the heels on the heels of Mr. Philip Basoah, MP for the Constituency death.

The traditional leaders reminded the NPP also that, the Independent Parliamentary Candidate, Kwaku Duah, who nearly caused an upset in the 2020 polls is still lurking around and could eventually shatter the party's stronghold on the Kumawu seat if government remains adamant to the concerns of the voters.

However, a former NPP for the area, Mr. Yaw Baah, who is seeking a comeback through the impending By-election, vehemently disagrees with the chiefs. He also mentioned the upgrading of two senior high schools in the district including Tweneboah Kodua, as Model Schools by the previous NPP government as some of the the contribution of the party to the socio-economic development in the district.

Also present at the meeting were the NPP's Kumawu Constituency Chairman, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Addai Agyekum and a Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr. Stephen Jalula.
