LET'S BE HOPEFUL OF AN IMPROVED ECONOMY-VIROLOGISTS ASSURES GHANAIANS

A Virologists with the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, KCCR at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr. Michael Owusu, has encouraged Ghanaians to be optimistic that the national economy would not collapse, despite the prevailing crisis. 

According to him, socio-economic circumstances at both the macro and individual levels currently may be difficult, there is every reason for the citizens to be hopeful that, things would turn around for good especially with the majority of the population being religious with hope for better things at the center of their faith and beliefs.

 Dr. Owusu gave the assurance at Aboabo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of Ashanti at a church service to climax a four-day Easter Convention organized by the Bompata Area of the Pentecost International Worship Centre, PIWC of the Church of Pentecost. 

Dr. Owusu, who is also the Presiding Elder of the PIWC Bompata Area, admitted that people are experiencing socio-economic hardships as a result of the national economic challenges, which are not peculiar to Ghana in the comity of nations, with hard work and steadfastness in their faith in God, their circumstances would change for the better very soon.

"We are in trying times and things are difficult across the world but those of us whose faith is in Christ Jesus have hope of a good future and surely God will bless the work of our hands", the Presiding Elder noted.

The PIWC Bompata District Resident Pastor, Pastor Joshua Kwabena Donkor, in a sermon, advised members of the church to, not just attend Church services on routine basis to listen to the word of God, but be transformed by the messages through practical lifestyles in the circular society to also make meaning to other people. 

Pastor Donkor also urged Christians in general not to allow prevailing situation in the world to sway them from their faith in God as the sustainer of life and ultimate provider of the needs of believers. 

The four-day Easter Convention which was on the theme: “He is Risen”, also involved community outreaches through which the members took advantage of the festive period to undertake evangelism to inspire hope in the people while preaching the purpose of the sacrifices of Jesus to save mankind.

"Many times people would be praising the word from preachers on the pulpit while they themselves do not take the word seriously to live by it but the power in the word of God should change us, mould us and make us the kind of people God wants", the PIWC preacher urged.
