ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER STRESSES NEED FOR INDUSTRY-ACADEMIA RELATIONSHIP

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi-Mensah has emphasized the need for a stronger linkage between industry and academia.

Such a linkage, he explained, will make products from the country’s tertiary educational institutions will help to adequately prepare the students ready for the job market after graduation to meet demands of employers.

Mr. Anarfi-Mensah made the point while interacting with the management of ADM Cocoa, a private company involved in processing cocoa into final products.

This was part of the Regional Minister’s official tour of the company at Kaase in Kumasi.

Mr. Anarfi-Mensah noted that regardless of the level of technical or theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom, school graduates will still require practical industrial training to get hands-on experience from industry before they can become ready for employment.

The General Manager of ADM Cocoa, Nicholas Poyade said tertiary institutions and industry players need the support of each other.

He said apart from producing cocoa liquor, the company also provides industrial training to students from the universities, polytechnics and technical schools.

Mr. Poyade commended the government of Ghana for creating the needed business environment for the private sector to thrive.
