FULANI HERDSMAN ARRESTED FOR MURDER

The Police in Ashanti have arrested a 20-year old man, Mohammadu Abubakari, for allegedly killing a 70-year old fisherman, Aklika Kpodi in the Afram Plains portion of the Asante Akyem North district.

 Narrating the incident to the media in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye said Abubakari is in charge of a cattle near the cottage of Mr. Kpodi at Mantukwa on the fringes of the Afram River. 

The Police Commander noted that on the 31st of last month while returning from his business to the house, the Fulani herdsman confronted him and slit open his stomach leading to his death on the spot. 

Abubakari then fled. DCOP Kofi Boakye said upon a tip-off, the Police at Agogo arrested Abubakari at his hideout at Ananekrom near Agogo on the second of this month. 

He has been remanded for the Police to continue with their investigation.

THE STATE OF KUMASI'S 'INDUSTRIAL AREA

The once Industrial enclave of the Ashanti region within the Kumasi metropolis is fast losing its status as the nerve centre of jobs for the people.     This is due to the collapse of most of the companies in quick succession in  the last few years for various reasons. New Campus of the Kwamang Presby SHS The Kwamang Presby Senior High/Technical School in the Sekyere Central district of Ashanti needs an urgent external intervention to address some of its pressing basic needs to function very well.  A visit by Ashanti Today to the school’s premises revealed that the school does not have an administrative block to administer affairs of the school for which reason the Headmistress, the Bursar and another staff are sharing one room which has been partitioned, while the Assistant Headmaster, the rest of the Accounts staff among other administrative officers are also working from an improvised classroom.
