PRESIDING BISHOP EULOGIZES LATE CPP STALWART

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Reverend Emmanuel Asante, has eulogized the late Evangelist Samuel Kwabena Danso for his selflessness and devotion to the work of God and mankind during his stay on earth. 

According to the Presiding Bishop, in spite of his fame as an astute politician and position in the Methodist Church, Evangelist Danso remained very humble and faithful to his maker until his demise. 

The late Evangelist Danso’s life must therefore be an inspiration for the transformation of both Christians and non-believers still alive. Most Rev. Asante gave the advice at a Requiem at the Wesley Cathedral in Kumasi today, Tuesday September 15 to commemorate one week of the passing away of Evangelist Danso.


The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church asked the living not to be carried away by their wealth, status in society or anything worldly to go contrary to the direction of God since all such things are vanity. 

Instead, people particularly Christians to always seek to please God with eternal life after death as the ultimate objective in all their endeavours.

 On his part, the Kumasi Archdiocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church, Right Reverend Osei Sarfo Kantanka, also paid glowing tribute to the late Danso who, he said not only served as the first Diocesan Lay Chairperson of the Church, but played an influential role at the Wesley Cathedral of the church. 

Right Rev. Sarfo Kantanka recollect his personal fond memories and encounters with the late Evangelist Danso in the church. 

He thanked God for the life of the man and asked the immediate family to take solace in the fact that the man did his best for the gospel.

 In attendance at today’s Requiem were leading members of the Aglow International Prayer Ministry, the CPP, the Christian fraternity, family and friends and a delegation from the Manhyia Palace.



Short Biography of the Late Evg. S.K. Danso

The late Evangelist Danso was an aid to the late Head of State, General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong. 

He was also one time the Chairman of the Kumasi City Council, now the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly as well as a former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party. 

He was a staunch member of the Methodist Church. The late Evangelist Danso was also a regular panelist on GBC’s Garden City Radio’s Morning Show as well as the weekly current Affairs programme, ‘Mpanin Ahyia” on Saturdays.

He was a pioneering member of the CPP in the Ashanti region. 

He also played no mean a role in the establishment of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST.

His last major public appearance was when he chaired the Ashanti Regional Delegates Congress of the CPP to elect its current regional Executives. 

 Evangelist Danso died in the early hours of Tuesday, the 8th of this month after a short illness. 

The mortal remains will be interred at Kokofu, his hometown in the Asante Bekwai Municipality in the Asante Bekwai Municipality on October 31, this year.
