UCC GRADUATE AUTHORS 2ND BOOK, COUNSELS GRADUATES
Graduates from
the country’s tertiary educational institutions have been advised to critically
undertake self assessment so as to identify their capabilities, potential and
talents with the aim of harnessing such abilities for their own good and
benefit of the larger society.
This is one proactive way for graduates to avoid
their over-reliance on the government for employment or reduce their
vulnerability to anti-social vices and peer pressure.
A Molecular Biology and
Biotechnologist from the University of Cape Coast, Richard Asare gave the
advice in an interview with Ashanti Today.
Master Asare, who completed
his National Service at the Crops Research Institute of the Council for
Scientific and Industrial Research at Fumesua in the Ashanti last month, has
already released an 80-page book titled, “Achieving Higher Standards like Never
Before”.
It is the second book that the 25 year old has authored, as part of
his personal initiatives to keep himself occupied and also to improve on his
creativity and natural talent.
Master Asare questioned the rational for the
formation of the Graduate Unemployed Association of Ghana which is made up of
young people who claim to be jobless after graduating from school.
The young
author asked school graduates to do introspection to find out their strengths
and weaknesses as well as their natural gifts.
It is by so doing that they will
be able to change their weaknesses to opportunities, while improving on the
strengths to achieve perfection.
Similarly, the youth must identify their role
models and work hard to attain similar or even better standard saying that he
has tried very hard to reach the status of Dr. Arthur Kennedy who, even though
is a professional medical practitioner, is also into writing.
