MAULVI BIN SALIH WORRIED ABOUT RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE IN SCHOOLS

 Heads and managers of Ahmadiyya educational institutions in Ghana have been urged to focus on producing quality graduates rather than quantity. 

This, they can achieve by instilling moral discipline in the students to make them useful and morally upright the future leaders of the country. 

The Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Alhaj Maulvi Noor-Muhammed Bin Salih gave the advice in Kumasi at the opening of the 11th Annual Conference of Heads and Managers of Ahmadiyya Educational Institutions of Ghana, CHAMAEIG. 

The Conference is on the theme: “At Crossroads: Our Education Reflections of the Past and Projections for Future”. 

Alhaj Maulvi Bin Salih noted that every child has the right to education therefore denying them such a constitutional right is reprehensible. 

He expressed worry about the gap between faith based schools and the public schools in terms of religious intolerance. 

He appealed to stakeholders to endeavor to bridge the gap so as to see themselves as partners not rivals. 

The Ameer advised that the various religions in the country tolerate each other in their quest to revive the fallen standards of education. 

He expressed shock about the unwillingness of some faith based schools which impose their belief on Muslim students appealed for religious tolerance at all levels.

He used the occasion to caution heads and managers of Ahmadiyya educational institutions of Ghana to adhere to the practices and beliefs of the Ahmadiyya Muslims Mission since non-conforming managers to the principle will be sanctioned.

 The Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Jacob Kor, appealed to the heads and managers to care for the students as if they were their own children. 

They should also ensure comply with the rules and regulations governing education in the country. 

Mr. Kor asked schools in the country to respect the religious rights and freedoms of students while collaborating with all stakeholders within the education sector.
