BE CALM, LOSING MCE CONTENDER URGES SUPPORTERS

One of the candidates highly tipped to be nominated as the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Kwaku Twumasi Nti, says even though he, just as his supporters, is disappointed that his contender was chosen ahead of him for the position, he has not lost hope yet as there could be many more other important opportunities in the future for him.

The 40-year old self-employed physically disabled man contested with the Ashanti Regional Women Organizer of the NPP, Mary Serwaa Derkye who was eventually favoured to become the next MCE for Ejisu-Juaben.

Speaking to Ashanti Today in Kumasi, Mr. Nti noted that he has already impressed upon his agitated supporters to accept the President’s nomination and offer her their support in the interest of Madam Derkye when she is approved by the Municipal Assembly.

Mr. Nti, who lost his job in the British Army after surviving a road accident in 2004, said days before the official announcement of the MMDCE nominees by the sector Minister, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah invited all contenders for the MMDCE positions in the region to his office during which the Regional Minister impressed upon the aspirants to accept whatever decisions announced in good fate and help avert agitations.

Mr. Nti was however satisfied that despite the uneasy calm among his followers in the Municipality, no violence has been recorded despite the pouring of anger through various media platforms.

He pledged to offer his unflinching support to Madam Derkye so as to bring socio-economic development to the area.
