NEW KSI MAYOR TAKES OFFICE
The
Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has advised the new Chief Executive
of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Osei Assibey Antwi, to establish and maintain
a regular and cordial working relationship with the traditional authority and
other stakeholders so as to engender mutual respect and trust needed for
socio-economic development of the Kumasi metropolis.
He gave the advice at the Swearing in and induction of Osei Assibey Antwi in Kumasi as the new Chief Executive of the
KMA.
The induction officially sets the tone for Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi to assume
duty as the Mayor of Ghana’s second biggest city.
Regional Minister drew
attention of the Mayor to the myriad of challenges which are drawing back
development of the metropolis, notably among them being insecurity, disregard
for law and order leading to human and vehicular congestion as well as poor sanitation.
Mr. Osei Mensah emphasized the need for the new Mayor to implement
effective strategies and measures to achieve the desired results.
The Mayor
must also work closely with the various security agencies including the Ashanti
Regional Security Council to maintain law and order in the metropolis.
The
Regional Minister reiterated the need for the newly inducted KMA Chief
Executive to work zealously to bring back the lost identity of the metropolis
as the garden city of West Africa.
The new Mayor of Kumasi, Mr. Assibey Antwi took
the oaths of office, allegiance and secrecy.
He expressed gratitude to
President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo for reposing trust and confidence in him
through his appointment to manage the city.
Mr. Assibey Antwi pledged to make
good use of the available human and material resources to deliver on his
mandate.
He however appealed for the support of all the stakeholders to enable
him succeed.
