CAR KILLS WOMAN AT ABONO ON EASTER MONDAY

A 70-year old woman, identified as Rebecca Appiah, met her untimely death at Abono, a community along Lake Bosomtwe in the Bosomtwe district of Ashanti yesterday when she was knocked down by one of the numerous vehicles that conveyed revelers to the Lakeside for Easter Monday holiday activities.

She died instantly at about 10.30 am. The Kuntanase District Police Commander, ASP Isaac Obo-Takyi, who confirmed the incident to Ashanti Today, however dispelled speculations that more than eight of the revelers died through the accident.

ASP Obo-Takyi noted that two other residents of the Abono community who were crushed while in their wooden kiosk by one of the accident vehicles, sustained serious injuries and are still on admission at the Saint Michael’s Catholic Hospital at Pramso where they are receiving emergency medical care.

Explaining the cause of the accident, ASP Obo-Takyi noted that at about 10.30 am yesterday, one of the many cars that were sending holiday makers to Abono, a popular community along Lake Bosomtwe to while away the holiday, an urvan bus developed a break failure and rammed into two stationary vehicles along the road before hitting the 70-year old woman who was walking along the road killing her on the spot.

One of the two other cars also ran into a wooden kiosk that was being occupied by two persons who got injured and were rushed to the Hospital.
