ASP Tanko said some police personnel selected to provide security have already
been oriented and will be briefed again before they finally assume their new
roles before, during and even after the Congress which is scheduled to take
place from tomorrow to Sunday in the Ashanti regional capital.
The Police PRO
however advised participants at the Congress to also take personal security
responsibility by plugging up all loopholes that could expose them to
criminals.
One of such measures is for everyone, particularly those who would
driving their private vehicles not to leave any personal effect or valuable
item at a place that could expose them to unscrupulous people whose
pre-occupation at the event venue would be pilfer or steal.
In a related
development, Ashanti Today can now confirm that most hotels and Guest
House in Kumasi have already been booked by mostly the NDC for its delegates,
observers and dignitaries expected to take part in the Saturday Congress.
The
General Manager of Arko Menz Hotel at Gyinyase, Gifty Arko Mensah told our News
Team during a tour of some hotels in Kumasi that her facility became fully
booked from yesterday/last Wednesday.
According to her, events such as the
upcoming delegates Congress positively affect the hospitality facilities since
it attracts many visitors to the region who in turn patronize their hotels.
The
Chairman of the Publicity Committee of the Local Planning Committee of the
NDC’s Congress, Samed Akalilu, who is also the new Regional Propaganda Secretary
of the party, said almost all the necessary arrangements for a successful
Congress have been completed.
He said however, that out of the about four
thousand 600 delegates expected in Kumasi between tomorrow and Saturday, about
98 percent have been assured of their accommodation while strenuous efforts are
being made to secure places for the remaining few adding that everyone of them
will be properly accommodated.
