MORE CRIMINALS ARRESTED IN ASHANTI

     Five persons have been arrested by the police in the Ashanti Region on suspicion of masterminding a highway robbery on the Domeabra-Wiaso road in the Ahafo Ano South District about a week ago. 

They are, Dey Donne, Fuseni Musah, Mumuni Sule, Razak Abdulai and Yassite Grumah.

 Speaking to newsmen in Kumasi, the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye said on the 12th of this month, a Sprinter bus with 38 passengers on board and travelling from Achiase near Mankranso to Kumasi in the early hours of the day, encountered a road block on reaching a section of the road between Domeabra and Wiaso.



He said when the driver stopped the vehicle, five armed men wearing masks and holding a locally made pistol and cutlasses, ordered the passengers to lie on the ground and surrender their money and other belongings. 

The suspects managed to rob 950 Ghana cedis from the passengers.

 DCOP Boakye said upon police intelligence, the five suspects were arrested at Kunsu two days later and during a search conducted in their room, a knife, locally made pistol, two live cartridges, some documents suspected to be used for counterfeiting, talismans, a fowl and other items which they allegedly use to fortify themselves before embarkng on a robbery expedition, were retrieved. 

DCOP Boakye said three other suspected armed robbers, Inbilla Shaibu, Eabakiyenu Dubik and Dominic Manu have been arrested for allegedly robbing some passengers at Amangoase in the Atwima Nwabiagya District. 


He said on the 15th of this month, the suspects intercepted a Mercedes Benz bus travelling Atunetuma to Kumasi. 


The three suspects who were part of a six member gang engaged in the robbery and armed with pump action guns, robbed passengers on board the bus of various sums of money, cell phones and personal effects. 

DCOP Kofi Boakye said the suspects fled into the Amangoase township and an alarm was raised, leading to the arrest of Inbilla, Eabakiyenu  and Manu.
