KUMASI AIRPORT RENOVATED

The Presidential aircraft carrying President John Dramani Mahama touched down at the Kumasi Airport at 9.30 last night to prove to all that the airport is now ready for both day and night traffic.

The renovation works involved the refurbishment of the Ground Light, the runway and installation of a one thousand kilovolt of power to facilitate 24-hour operation of the facility.

The Kumasi Airport is the second busiest airport in Ghana after the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

President Mahama explained that with the completion of the work, the Kumasi Airport is now in a best position to provide international air transport for the numerous travelers from the northern sector of Ghana.

He therefore entreated the indigenous airline operators such as Antrak Air, Africa World Airline and Star Bow Airline to take advantage of the new-look Kumasi Airport to start extending their services to the West African sub-region.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu commended the government for improving the status of the Kumasi Airport saying that the intentions of any government are to ensure improvement in the well being of the citizens.

He therefore pledged his support for any government to ensure the speedy development of the people.
