ASHANTI REGIONAL COORD COUNCIL FETES MEDIA PRACTITIONERS

The Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Security Council, Dr. Samuel Sarpong has assured residents of the Ashanti region that everything possible is being done to secure the required congenial atmosphere for them and even visitors, to go about their normal activities without fear and intimidation, particularly during this yuletide.

According to him, the security apparatus especially the Police are more than poised to fight crime from every angle and therefore warned enemies of peace who plan to take undue advantage of the Christmas festivities to inflict pain and trauma on individuals in the region to revise their notes.

Dr. Sarpong, who is the Ashanti Regional Minister, gave the warning at an interaction with media practitioners in Kumasi. He emphasized that the Regional Security Council is determined to make the price of crime very expensive for criminals to patronize during the festive period and the New Year.

He entreated drivers to observe road traffic regulations to avoid accidents, while businessmen and women should as well exercise caution and take personal safety in their operations and movements particularly in the night.

The Regional Minister said in spite of the challenges that bedeviled development in the region, a number of successes were equally chalked during the passing year.

He attributed the success to the collaboration and cooperation among all the partners of the Regional Coordination Council such the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu who offered regular counsel and guidance to the Regional Minister, as well as the support of the media, while the Police, under the leadership of DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye proved unyielding in the fight against criminals.

'On this note, i wish to thank you the media, our major stakeholders and whose collaboration and support we shall continue to enjoy', the Regional Minister stressed.

Dr. Sarpong urged all to continue to work with the RCC to promote socio-economic development in the region in the ensuing year.
