Kumasi. He said the House would like to be proactive in its activities with
regard to promotion of peace, stability and democratic governance and that it
will never rest in ensuring that the current stable peaceful environment is
sustained. Naa Prof.

chieftaincy related cases pending before the Judicial Committee of the House. The number includes 76 Appeals, and 15 petitions.
He said while the House
managed to successfully dispose off three of the cases, unfortunately two more
were added in the course of the year.
The three cases were the Bimbila and Bunkrugu
Chieftaincy Disputes in the Northern Region and Nsoatre in the Brong Ahafo
Region.
He said now that the House has been provided with a Counsel, more of
the cases would be determined next year.
The President appealed to members of
the Judicial Committee to endeavour to avail themselves for regular
deliberations during their meetings.
He renewed the same appeal to parties and
their lawyers to also avail themselves at the committee’s sittings so as to
avoid unnecessary adjournments.
On the current chieftaincy disputes in the
country, Naa Prof. Nabila urged chiefs to always try and settle their
differences using the mediation process instead of resorting to violence.
Kingmakers
and queenmothers were charged to ensure that there is always the right choice
of candidates for vacant stools and skins without considering what he called
