MP SUPRISES BEST ASSEMBLY WORKER

The Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti region has held its first ever Best Worker Awards ceremony at Asokore Mampong during which 18 staff of the Assembly were identified as the most hardworking of all and given various prizes as their rewards.


Their prizes included refrigerators, standing fan, certificates and plaques. An Assistant Director, Eunice Asantewa Oduro was adjudged as the overall best worker for 2014. 


To her surprise and that of all the participants at the function, the Member of Parliament for Asawase, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak announced a full scholarship for Madam Oduro to pursue her Master’s academic programme at any university, while the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Nuru Hamidan also personally offered her a return plane tick to Accra.

 In addition, her portrait will be placed in all offices of the Municipal Assembly in 2015 to serve as additional morale booster for her and the other workers. 


The MP offered also, a ward each of three other award winners partial scholarship as a reward for the parents’ dedication to duty. 


Two other staff members, Madam Patience Obeng of the Education Unit, and Isaac Yomekpe of the Audit Unit came second and third respectively. 



A number of other people who have provided tremendous support to the young Municipal Assembly such as the chief of Asokore Mampong, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah who has offered part of his palace for use by the Assembly, the MP, who is an ex-officio member of the Assembly has provided immense support to the Assembly, as well as the Sarkin Zongo were given citation by the Assembly in recognition an appreciation for their support. 


 The MCE, Alhaji Nuru Hamidan noted that even though it has faced a number of teething problems, the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, which was created in 2012, has still been able to achieve significant socio-economic developmental successes. 


These are in the roads and education sectors as well as the construction of office and residential accommodation for the staff. 


The MP, Alhaji Mubarak commended the Assembly for rewarding the staff for their hardwork, since it is part of the morale booster required to achieve organizational objectives.


 In a remark, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah asked Assembly Members to always consult their electorate on matters to be decided at Assembly meetings and resolutions, since it is a legal mandate for them.
