KMA OFFICES UP FOR SALE?

Ashanti Today has learnt of moves by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, KMA, to trade off its main office at Adum on the Harper Road.

A reliable source very close to the Assembly has told Ashanti Today that the plan was key on the Agenda of the KMA's Executive Committee's meeting held today. The source could however not provide the details of the plan until the meeting was over.

The decisions arrived at the Executive Committee's meetings transcend into the main agenda for the General Assembly meeting of the Assembly which has been scheduled for next week or latest before the year ends.

If the Executive Committee eventually agrees to the plan to sell the KMA's main office, the General Assembly would then be required to ratify that decision to give legal backing to that move.

According to our source, the move to trade off the office is to pave the way for the construction of a new modern office complex on the vast land located just opposite the present office.

That land has been fallow for a while now and is currently being used by the KMA as a car parking lot.

If the plan receives the Assembly's ratification, according to the source, a valuer would then be engaged by the Assembly to determine the financial value to inform the authorities about how much the property should be sold.

The KMA's Executive Committee comprises the Chief Executive, Coordinating Director, Heads of Department and all the Conveners of the sub Committees.

The Presiding Member is however not a member of the Executive Committee.

We will keep you posted on any new development.

In the mean time, what do you think of such a plan, to sell the kma's Adum office?  please send your comments.
