DANIEL KENU RESUMES WORK

Daniel Kenu at his desk this morning
The Ashanti Regional Correspondent of the Graphic Communications Group, Daniel Kenu, resumed work this morning.

This follows a directive by the Board of Directors of the Company that asked the Management to re-instate Mr. Kenu after he was dismissed about two weeks ago.

His re-instatement is without conditions and contrary to an earlier dismissal letter given to the Regional Correspondent after an investigative Committeefound him guilty of gross misconduct and disloyalty to the company he worked with.

Ashanti Today can report that as early as about 8 am today, Mr. Kenu had reported to duty at the 'Graphic Nsempa House' theAshanti regional office of the GCGL situated at Asafo.

Mr. Kenu, who looked well composed and calm at the time of Ashanti Today's visited the office, however kindly turned down a request for any interview except to say 'Thank you to the Board' of the company as well as indicate that 'Life is always a teacher'.

Mr. Kenu explained that the rules and regulations of his employer do not permit him to be speaking to the media about matters relating his official duties, saying that he only spoke to the media during his dismissal since he was not under no limitations by then.

About two weeks ago, the management of Graphic Communications Group Limited, the employer of Daniel Kenu, handed him a letter dismissing him for the company for gross misconduct and a show of disloyalty  to the employer for unilaterally taking a decision to discontinue with a case between the Republic and the Senior brother of Black Stars Captain, Baffuor Gyan at a Kumasi Circuit Court.

The Ashanti Regional Correspondent was the prosecution witness in the case after he was allegedly physically assaulted by Baffour Gyan and othersafter asking his brother a question relating the whereabout of the missing Ghanaian musician, Castro.

The company had openly shown support for its Correspondent to pursue the alleged assault case to its logical legal conclusion. But Mr. Kenu told the Court presided over by Mr. William Boampong, in Kumasi at the last adjourned date that he was no longer interested in pursuing the case due to the negative impact the matter had already had on his family and his personal health.

Incidentally, for the time the prosecution, the Managing Director, who traveled from Accra had attended the court hearing in the company with an additional lawyer to help the prosecution only to hear Mr. Kenu tell the Court that he could no longer continue with case.

Not satisfied with the matter, the management of GCGL set up a Committee to look into the conduct of Mr. Kenu after which he was summary dismissed. However, last week, the Board of Directors ordered the re-call of Mr. Kenu with the reason that the investigative Committee only recommend a month's suspension of the worker.
