BANK MANAGER KILLED IN KUMASI
The 39-year old Abrepo branch Manager of
ECOBANK, Richard Salla, has been killed
by assailants suspected to be armed robbers.
Mr. Salla, who was attacked at his
residence at Ahenema Kokoben near Kumasi at dawn today, was pronounced dead on
arrival at a nearby hospital.
The body has since been deposited at the Komfo
Anokye Teaching Hospital’s mortuary,
also in Kumasi while police have commenced fervent investigation to unravel the
actual circumstances surrounding the incident.
As part of efforts to get to the
bottom of the matter in time, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has placed a
six thousand Ghana Cedi ransom on the head of the suspected assailants.
The
Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye who confirmed the incident,
would however not give out the details in view of the ongoing investigations.
But eyewitnesses have told the media that the assailants of Mr. Salla, who is
said to be a Reverend Minister of a Kumasi-based church, are believed to be
armed robbers.
According to eyewitness accounts, the killers first cut-off the
wire mesh on top of the house’s fence wall before entering the premises.
Thereafter, they used a car jack to force open the main door to Mr. Salla’s
apartment and later shot him in the face.
They then allegedly took away his
flat screen television set, a laptop computer and an unspecified sum of money
away.
The eyewitness said when Mr. Salla was rushed to a nearby hospital, he
