KUMASI METROPOLITAN ASSEMBLY USHERS IN CHRISTMAS

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has held a festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in Kumasi to officially usher in the 2014 edition of Christmas.
Officials of the KMA used the occasion to unveil, perhaps, the tallest of Xmas Tree in the whole o Ashanti region.
The Xmas Tree, with miniature horses at its base and decorated with sparkling lights that glow the area in the night, is mounted within the Prempeh 11 Roundabout at the frontage of Opoku Trading on the Harper Road.
At the festival of Nine Lessons and Carols were a number of prominent residents of the Ghana's second biggest city.
They include the political head of the Ashanti region, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, wife of the occupant of the Golden Stool, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, and the Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu.

At the even to provide soothing music that set the participants agog were various Choral groups as well as the Police band.
The band and the choral groups sang some of the popular choral songs in addition to Christmas songs to entertain the guests.
The dignitaries such as Dr. Sarpong and Lady Julia read the various lessons while Mr. Bonsu gave a welcome address.
