KMA ALREADY EXCEEDED 2014 REVENUE TARGET
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has
exceeded its total revenue for this year by over a hundred per cent.
The
Assembly budgeted for a total revenue of 18 million 386 thousand 329 Ghana
Cedis for this year. As at November, an amount of 18 million 435 thousand 860
Ghana Cedis had been realized.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive, Kojo Bonsu
announced this at the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Assembly, in Kumasi.
He
said around the same time last year, about 12-point-five million Ghana Cedis
had been collected out of the total budgeted figure of 15 million Ghana Cedis,
which represented 84 per cent.
Mr. Bonsu announced that most projects under
Phase One of the Urban Development Grant have been completed, while works on
Phase Two of the Grant are ongoing.
He said under Phase Three of the Urban
Development Grant, the Assembly is waiting for approval from the World Bank and
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for the execution of the
projects.
Under the District Development Fund, Mr. Bonsu said work on 23 out of
the 25 projects which were approved by the Assembly for execution is
progressing steadily adding that the projects will cost over one-point-two
million Ghana Cedis.
The Mayor said the Ministry of Local Government and Rural
Development has requested the Assembly three priority projects for
implementation by the Central Government next year.
In response to the request,
the Assembly has requested for the construction of a community clinic with male
and female ward at Kentinkrono, a model school complex at Sokoban Daban and
reconstruction of damaged bridge including sealing work at Kaase.
He said the three projects may cost five-point-one million Ghana Cedis.
