FIVE CONTEST HLORDZI FOR NDC NATIONAL YOUTH ORGANIZER

About 800 delegates of the ruling National Democratic Congress, NDC are set to elect the National Youth Organizer and two Deputies today at a mini Conference at the Youth Centre at Ahinsan Estate in Kumasi. 


Six members of the party, including the incumbent National Youth Organizer, Ludwig Hlordzi are contesting for the single slot of the National Youth Organizer with nine others vying to fill the two Deputy National Youth Organizer positions. 


The start of the mini conference had to delay to allow for the participants to actively take part in the second edition of the National Sanitation Day in the Kumasi metropolis. 

 As at 12 noon on the mini conference day, some of the delegates, candidates, National Executives and government functionaries have already arrived at the Youth Centre for the programme. 


The place was full of activity while traders had taken advantage to trade in all manner of NDC related wares. 


The entire Youth Centre is also awashed with posters and banners of all the contesting members of the various national executive positions in the party. 


There was also an appreciable security arrangement at the place with a number of well prepared police personnel on the ground to protect both life and property.   


Meanwhile, the general National Conference of the party to complete its national elections is scheduled to be held also in Kumasi on the 20th of this month at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

THE STATE OF KUMASI'S 'INDUSTRIAL AREA

The once Industrial enclave of the Ashanti region within the Kumasi metropolis is fast losing its status as the nerve centre of jobs for the people.     This is due to the collapse of most of the companies in quick succession in  the last few years for various reasons. New Campus of the Kwamang Presby SHS The Kwamang Presby Senior High/Technical School in the Sekyere Central district of Ashanti needs an urgent external intervention to address some of its pressing basic needs to function very well.  A visit by Ashanti Today to the school’s premises revealed that the school does not have an administrative block to administer affairs of the school for which reason the Headmistress, the Bursar and another staff are sharing one room which has been partitioned, while the Assistant Headmaster, the rest of the Accounts staff among other administrative officers are also working from an improvised classroom.
