ENTREPRENEUR ASSISTS ORPHANS
A Kumasi-based entrepreneur, Charles
Osei Bonsu has organized a party for inmates of the Asante Mampong Babies Home
and children from its vicinity.
The children had more than enough to eat and
drink.
They also entertained their guests with a variety of entertainment
activities such as choreography, eating and dancing competitions as well as
chair dancing and drama. Also present was the Bethel Community Assemblies of
God Choir which provided choral music.
Mr. Osei Bonsu also donated items
including drinks, biscuits, toiletries, food beverages as well as bags of rice
and maize c which altogether cost about 15 thousand Ghana Cedis plus a cash of
one thousand Ghana Cedis for towards upkeep of the inmates of the Babies Home.
Present to support Mr. Osei Bonsu at the presentation of the items were members
of the Bethel Community Assemblies of God at Tafo Adonpom in Kumasi where he
worships.
Mr. Osei Bonsu explained in an
interview with Ashanti Today that the gesture was borne out of his
affection for the marginalized and less privileged in society.
He noted that
the inmates as well as other vulnerable persons in society are in most cases cannot
be blamed for their predicament saying that, such people look up to society for
both material and emotional support.
Mr. Osei Bonsu therefore challenged the
well-to-do in the society to lend support for the smooth running of the Mampong
Babies Home.
The Minister in charge of Bethel Community Assemblies of God in
Kumasi, Reverend John Owusu Ansah also advised particularly Christians to regularly
help the needy in society since that is one of the marks of true Christians.
The
Supervisor of the Home, Madam Margaret Addai thanked Mr. Osei Bonsu for the
gesture.
At the same event, a Ghanaian
resident of London, Lynda Opoku also donated a seven thousand litre polytank
and five boxes of infant formula to the Home.
