ASAWASE MUDER TRIAL-DOCKET AT A-G'S OFFICE
The docket on the trial of the five persons in
connection with the murder of an NPP activist in the Asawase Constituency in
Kumasi has been forwarded to the office of the Attorney-General for the
appropriate advice on the future of the prosecution.
The Head of Legal and
Prosecution at the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Superintendent Emmanuel
Akunnor, who is prosecuting the case therefore appealed to the Asokwa District
Court hearing the case to adjourn it.
The Court presided over by Mr. Korkor
Owusu Achiaw, subsequently adjourned preliminary trial of the case to the 21st
of this month, by which time the Prosecution should have received expert advice
on the case.
The Court also remanded three of the accused into Prison custody.
They are Osman Issah, the Constituency Youth Organizer who is also the
Tricycles Supervisor at Zoomlion, Bawa Musah, a cobbler and Alhassan Issah
popularly known as ‘Million’ who is also a driver’s mate.
Another accused, Hajia Wasila Gariba, the
Deputy Constituency Women Organizer of the NPP said to be an asthmatic patient,
was however into Police custody.
The
fifth accused, named only as Mohammed, is at large.
When the case was called at
the Court yesterday, Monday December 7, Counsel for the accused, Owusu Sekyere was not available
for an unknown reason.
