FIRE FIGHTERS SAVE HOSPITAL FROM WILD FIRE

The timely arrival of personnel from the Ashanti regional headquarters of the National Fire Service helped to save the Divine Mercy Hospital, a private medical facility at Esreso in the Bosomtwe district of Ashanti yesterday, Sunday December 6.

Our Correspondent reports that even though the entire private house that shares only a fence wall with the hospital was razed by the wild fire, the Fire Service personnel were able to stop the fire from spreading to the Hospital, which is the 3rd biggest medical facility in the district.

But for the intervention of the fire fighters, the destruction caused by the ravaging fire, which started at about 3pm would have been unimaginable, considering the number of private houses that also are connected to the affected house.

The cause of the fire is still unknown with no human casualty.

The fire started at a time the landlord and other occupants of the house had not returned from Church service outside of the vicinity.

It was detected by neighbours who forced open the main entrance to the house before they could evacuate two private vehicles that were parked in the house.

However, their efforts were not enough to stop the fire from totally destroying the house. It took the fire fighters about two hours to put out the fire.
