DON'T PLUNGE GHANA INTO DISUNITY-HOUSE OF CHIEFS
The National House of Chiefs has urged
all political parties to be circumspect in order not to plunge the nation into
any form of disunity.
Likewise, the House appeals to all chiefs not to take
active part in party politics as per the National Constitution and the
Government White Paper on the Report of the Constitution Review Commission of
Inquiry.
The appeals are contained in a New Year message issued in Kumasi and signed
by the Acting Registrar of the National House of Chiefs, A.K. Essien and copied
to the media.
It further urged all stakeholders involved in the conduct of the
elections to be neutral as much as possible to restore the public confidence in
them.
The message noted that 2016 will be a crucial year in the lives of all
Ghanaians as the nation prepares to go to the polls to elect the president and
members of parliament to steer the affairs of the country.
Nananom will also
elect their members in the various Regional Houses of Chiefs to form the
membership of the National House of Chiefs and subsequently elect the president
and vice-president of the House.
The message urged Ghanaians to put all hands
on deck in order to emerge stronger than before as a nation.
