PRESIDENT'S DCE NOMINEE APPROVED AT AGOGO

A 52-year old health worker at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, Paul Kingsley Averu has been confirmed as the District Chief Executive for Asante Akyem North in the Ashanti region.

Mr. Averu was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama for consideration of the post for a second term.

At the confirmation polls held at Agogo, Mr. Averu had 27 out of the 32 votes cast, with only five of the Assembly Members voting against him.

By law, the candidate needed at least 21 of the total votes cast.

The election was supervised by a team of officials from the Ashanti Regional directorate of the Electoral Commission led by a Deputy Regional Director, Lucas Yariyari and witnessed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi-Mensah.

The DCE thanked the Assembly Members for confirming his nomination and pledged to work with them to speed up the district’s socio-economic development.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi-Mensah, noted that togetherness and goodwill are key to facilitating socio-economic development.

He therefore called for the support of all the stakeholders for the new DCE to succeed in the larger interest of the district.
