WANTED SUSPECTED CRIMINAL ARRESTED IN ASHANTI

The Police in the Ashanti region have arrested a 39 year old scrap dealer, Abdullai Husein also known as Meginma  a wanted suspected criminal. 

He was arrested by the Mampongteng Police on the 29th of last month. 

His suspected accomplice, one Acheampong, is however said to be on the run and the police have mounted a search for him. 

The Police retrieved from Meginma a sub-machine gun, 17 rounds of ammunition, a jack knife and a catapult while the suspected accomplice managed to escape arrest with a pistol. 

Briefing newsmen in Kumasi, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP Ampofo Duku said at about 12 noon, a complainant lodged a report with the Antoa Police that the two suspects, with a gun, attacked and threatened to kill him while at a friend’s outdooring ceremony. 

In response, the Police followed-up and found the two suspects with the weapons at Baworo New Site near Antoa. 

According to ACP Duku, in their attempt to escape arrest, Meginma fell leading to his arrest while Acheampong was able to ran away. 

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander linked Meginma to about three other armed robbery cases all of which involve the snatching of vehicles. 

All the alleged crimes were committed in the second half of last year. 

The Police are now after Acheampong who is now at large and have therefore appealed to the public for any information about his whereabout.
