The Police in the Ashanti region have arrested one Kwaku Peprah in connection with the robbery of two Chinese nationals and a Ghanaian of 800 gramms of gold, a cash of two thousand 100 Ghana Cedis and mobile phones after which the victims, Lei Hai Yong, Yong Guan Xian together with their driver, one Ben were beaten   at Manso Siabotare in the Amansie West district of Ashanti.

Narrating the incident to the media in Kumasi, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP Ampofo Duku said on the 4th of this month at about 6 pm, while the victims were traveling on board a Mitsubishi pick up from Manso Siabotare to Kumasi, they came across a road block about 20 metres from the town.

Suddenly, four armed men wearing masks emerged and attacked them at gun point. The unidentified men then robbed them of their valuables and fled into the bush.

ACP Duku said two days later, one Abu Karim was seen with the mobile phone of one of the victims and was then arrested by the Police.

During interrogation, Karim mentioned Peprah, now in police custody as the one who gave the phone to him to unlock and therefore led the Police to arrest Peprah.

He in turn, claimed that he bought the phone from one Desmond for 100 Ghana Cedis. ACP Duku noted that Peprah has still not been able to lead to the Police to the said Desmond for arrest.
