ASHANTI POLICE CALLS FOR HELP TO FIND ASSAILANTS

  The Ashanti Regional Police Command has appealed to members of the public to assist it with credible information that can lead to the arrest of a Kumasi-based businessman, AlhajiAlidu Suleima, 56, who was shot and killed by an unidentified assassin at his private residence at TUC Adiembra, a suburb of Kumasi last Saturday. 

Addressing the media in Kumasi , the Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, ACP Ampofo Duku, assured the family and members of the public that the Police Command is doing everything possible to track the perpetrators of the crime. 

According to ACP Duku, at about8.30 pm last Saturday, Alhaji Alidu Suleiman, who plies his trade at Allah Bar, a suburb of Kumasi, returned from town. After driving into his house, he was returning to close the main gate when his suspected assailant shot at him from a very closed range twice in the head killing him instantly. 

ACP Duku suspected the assailant to have hidden in a hedge close to the main gate. After the act, the assailant is believed to have jumped into his vehicle believed to have been parked at a distant from the house and sped off immediately after the act. 

The Deputy Regional Police Commander said when the Police visited the scene the following morning, used shells of ammunition were found near where the body laid. 

ACP Duku however allayed the fears of members of the public and asked them to go about their lawful routine activities as the police is working hard to provide the congenial atmosphere for everyone to live peacefully.
