TWO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH MURDER OF THREE WOMEN AT JAMASI


There was pandemonium at Jamasi in the Sekyere South district of Ashanti yesterday, Thursday February 18, following the murder of three women on their farms by some men. Two men have so far been arrested by the Police in connection with the suspected murder. 

They were however had to be transferred from the custody of the Jamasi Police to the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters to avert a possible violence by the residents of Jamasi who were highly incense by the suspected murder. 

The Sekyere South District Chief Executive, Edward Ayarkwa who confirmed the incident to Ashanti Today in Kumasi explained that he was informed about the suspected murder at about 2 pm yesterday

According to the DCE, one of the victims managed to rush home with the wounds and blood to lodge formal complaint with the Jamasi Police.

 She died at the Agona Government Hospital where she was receiving blood transfusion as a result of the amount of blood she lost from the wounds. 

Mr. Ayarkwa said further that when the police together with some youth of the town went to the farm of the woman, two other women had already been murdered. 

The Police was able to arrest two men in relation to the matter and placed them in custody. 

However, the youth who had become highly incensed demanded for the heads of the suspects for instance justice. 

The DCE said when he arrived at the Jamasi Police Station and asked for a safe custody of the suspects, "the youth then became violent and pelted me with all manner of missile damaging my official vehicle in the process for disallowing them from killing the suspects.'

He said he then urged the Jamasi Police to transfer the suspects to Kumasi to calm tempers.
