PUPILS BURN CLASSROOMS, TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS

Ashanti Today has gathered that two classrooms as well as some teaching and learning materials including a teacher’s desk have been burnt at the Mahaad Islamic Primary School at Moshie Zongo in Kumasi.

Two Class Four pupils of the school, whose names have been withheld for security reasons, are reported to have allegedly committed the act yesterday at about 7.30 pm.

A source who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident saying that a report had been made to the parents of one of the pupils who reside in Takoradi in the Western region by the school authority, of his undisciplined behavior in school.

This however did not go done well with the student, who was later alleged to have bought fuel and connived with his accomplice, another pupil of the school to set ablaze some desks and books in Classes Four and Six.

The pupils are allegedly reported to have scaled the locked gates of the fenced school at night.

According to the source, the two boys are currently in the custody of some Muslim leaders in Moshie Zongo in Kumasi who are questioning them to unravel the truth in the whole incident.

The source said however that the school authority is yet to make a formal report to the Police.
