GHANA PREPARES AGAINST EBOLA OUTBREAK
A National Disease Surveillance Team
has already been activated by Ministry of Health to contain any possible spread
of Ebola fever in the country should the unexpected happen.
The Ministry is
also working very hard, especially in the area of public education, to raise
the required awareness and get all to practice the highest level of prevention
and control measures.
The sector Minister, Dr. Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah announced
this when he paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Tepa, Nana Adusei
Atwenewah Ampem at Tepa in Ashanti.
The Minister is in the region to see at
first hand progress of work on some health projects being financed by the
government.
Dr. Agyemang-Mensah enumerated some preventive measures such as
regular washing the hands with soap and clean water while stressing on the need
for people to be careful especially at public gatherings.
The Paramount Chief
of Tepa, Nana Adusei Atwenewah Ampem appealed to the Minister to provide the
Tepa Government Hospital with a least a specialist doctor to facilitate quality
health care delivery.
At Tepa, Dr. Agyemang-Mensah inspected progress of work
on the construction of a 60 bed district hospital complex being constructed at
a cost of 36 million Dollars.
The project contractors, Euroget De-Invest told
the Minister that work was progressing steadily and that construction is due to
complete by the middle of year.
Dr.
Agyemang-Mensah also inspected work on the 500 bed Military Hospital being
constructed at Afari in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.
The project which
started in February last year, has a 42 months completion period.
It is also
being constructed by Euroget De-Invest and financed at a cost of 189 million
Dollars.
The Health Minister urged the contractor working on the hospital
project at Afari to ensure that it is completed on schedule.
