ROADS MINISTER INAUGURATES PROJECTS IN KUMASI

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhaji Inusah Mumuni Fuseini says it is the policy of Government to complement the construction of any road infrastructure project with the provision of community development projects that are in the right of way of such projects.

He said in replacing projects that are in the right of way, better facilities will be provided in line with the NDC Government’s Better Ghana Agenda.

The Minister announced this when he inaugurated two community development projects provided under the Sofoline Interchange Project in Kumasi.

The projects were an ultra modern Family Planning Unit for the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and a one storey 12 classrooms Primary and a single storey kindergarten block for the Kwadaso SDA cluster of schools.

The two storey Komfo Anokye Family Planning block was constructed to replace a single storey block affected by the Komfo Anokye Interchange, a key component of the Sofoline Interchange Project.

Its construction was financed by the Government at a cost of about 670 thousand Ghana Cedis.

The school projects at the Kwadaso SDA cluster of schools contains a sick bay, computer laboratory, library, head masters office and teacher’s common room.

Alhaji Fuseini explained that the provision of community development projects to replace facilities that are in the right of way of road infrastructure projects being undertaken by Government will help to improve the standard of living of residents.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Samuel Sarpong said the provision of the new school buildings would effectively eliminate the shift system, which the Kwadaso SDA School currently runs.

He said the provision of requisite infrastructure for the promotion and development of education, particularly at the basic level, is very crucial in the overall developmental agenda of government.

This is because with the right infrastructure, teaching and learning can effectively go on unhindered.

This Dr. Sarpong noted, would go a long way to provide a good foundation for pupils to fully explore their capacities.
