WORK EVENTUALY STARTS ON ASHANTI REGIONAL HOSPITAL
The Minister of Health, Dr. Kwaku
Agyemang-Mensah has assured Ghanaians of the Government’s commitment towards
quality healthcare delivery.
He said, as a social democratic Government, the NDC
Administration under President Mahama would ensure that the provision of
quality health care services is brought to the doorsteps of Ghanaians.
Dr.
Agyemang-Mensah gave the assurance when he formally handed over the site for
the construction of the Ashanti Regional Hospital to the contractors executing
the project at Sewua in the Bosomtwe District.
The 250 bed regional hospital is being constructed by Euroget De-Invest of
Egypt and will take 18 months to complete.
Dr. Agyemang-Mensah urged the
contractor to ensure that the project is completed on schedule.
He also called
for the recruitment of citizens of Sewua by the contractor for the project.
The
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Euroget Group, Dr. Said Deraz said the
project will be undertaken in three phases, with the first phase consisting of
civil and construction works.
The chief of
Sewua, Nana Sarkodie appealed for the speedy compensation of those whose
farms were destroyed because of the hospital project.
While in the Ashanti region, the Health Minister also
paid a familiarization visit to the new Bekwai Municipal Hospital which is
being constructed by the government under the Health Services Rehabilitation
Project.
He was accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Samuel
Sarpong and the Paramount Chief of Bekwai, Nana Karikari Appau.
The 120 bed Municipal
hospital which was started in 2010 would help decongest the Komfo Anokye
Teaching Hospital when completed by the end of next year.
The contractor
executing the project, Consar Limited told the Health Minister that civil works
had been virtually completed and awaiting the installation of equipment.
The
Health Minister, Dr. Agyemang-Mensah gave the assurance that Government would
ensure that funds are available to make the hospital project fully completed
and functional.
The Paramount Chief of Bekwai, Nana Karikari Apau expressed
gratitude to the government towards ensuring the completion of the hospital
complex.
