ONE MAN BUILDS DISTRICT POLICE HQ, POLICE STATIOMN ET AL




The Inspector General of Police, Dr. John Kudalor has appealed for individual and corporate support to enable the Police Service to resource its personnel with adequate infrastructure as part of policy initiatives and through a multi-sectoral approach to further mitigate the infrastructural challenge of the Service. 

Dr. Kudalor made the appeal at a durbar to officially inaugurate and handover a newly constructed Police station at Asaam in the Mampong municipality of Ashanti for the benefit of the people and surrounding communities.

 The modern District Police Station was solely financed by a private transport Service operator and Philanthropist, Yaw Amponsah Marfo popularly called Agya Ewiase

It comprises a District Commander’s bungalow and quarters for station officers and junior ranks, bringing to eight the total number of district police stations constructed by the Ashanti Regional Police Command in the last two years under the administration of COP Nathan Kofi Boakye. 

The IGP emphasized that the new district police station was timely, considering a number of crimes that Asaam and its surrounding areas had been registering adding that, it would help to greatly reduce the incidence of crime to enable individuals embark on their daily economic and social activities peacefully. 

He also assured that the facilities at the station would be properly maintained to ensure its longevity, while commending Mr. Amponsah Marfo for constructing the police station to help provide adequate security for human lives and property.

 The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Kofi Boakye noted that security is a shared responsibility and therefore advised beneficiaries of the new Police station including the Ejura and Sekyedumase communities to be security-conscious and also support officers with the needed information to reduce crime occurrences.

 He further warned against intimidation on officers of the station adding that, the Regional Police Command would not tolerate any act of indiscipline which could undermine the effective discharge of its duties. 

The benefactor, Mr. Marfo also donated a new Nissan Navara pickup and two motorbikes for use by the station and also appealed for the regular support of the Mampong Municipal Assembly for the station in terms of fuel and other critical logistics.
