IVOR GREENSTREET PROMISES FREE GOODIES FOR PwDs
The 2016 flagbearer of the CPP, Ivor
Greenstreet, says the party has factored inputs and concerns of people living
with disabilities into its Manifesto for the next government if he is elected
as Ghana’s President in this year’s election.
In this regard, a CPP government
under his presidency will provide free healthcare, formal education and public
transportation to persons with disabilities.
In addition, a policy will be
implemented to ensure that five per cent of both public and private employment
is reserved for such underprivileged citizens.
Mr. Greenstreet made these known
when he addressed a rally of party faithful and Persons with Disability at Akomadan in the Offinso
North Constituency in the Ashanti region.
The crowd at
Akomadan had defied a downpour and waited for the CPP flagbearer who arrived
late in the day.
Mr. Greenstreet and his campaign team had earlier addressed a
similar crowd at Ahenkro in the Afigya Kwabre North Constituency as part of his
campaign tour of the Ashanti region.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd in the
rain, Mr. Greenstreet identified with the problems of persons with disabilities,
saying that even though such persons do not like to be in that condition, it
might have been the will of nature that such should be the situation.
He
encouraged them not to be look down on themselves but rather believe in their
individual natural abilities to assert themselves in their fields of endeavour
to prove that disability is not inability.
This has been his motivation as he
pushes to be the first physically disabled President of Ghana.
Touching on
national development, the CPP flagbearer noted that Ghanaians have experienced
the quality of governance by both the NPP and NDC but are still suffering from
many socio-economic challenges including divisiveness.
The CPP government under
his leadership, Mr. Greenstreet assured, will provide the best of governance
comparable to that of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to
bring the much needed improvement in the lives of every citizen.
He said his
government will give priority attention to policies and programmes that will
modernize and sustain improved agricultural production through ready market and
easy access to marketing centres of farm produce as well as improved road
network in the hard to reach farming areas.
Mr. Greenstreet said also that a
CPP government plans to invest substantially in wind and solar energy in
addition to hydro power as short and long term solutions to the debilitating
power supply in the country.
He therefore appealed to the electorate to trust
him and the CPP and vote massively for the party in the December 7 Presidential
and Parliamentary elections.
Mr. Greenstreet used the occasions to formally
introduce the CPP’s Parliamentary Candidates for Afigya Kwabre North, Frank
Opoku, and his counterpart for Offinso North, Kwaku Boateng, to the people to
vote for them.
