18 PRESBY PROBATIONERS ORDAINED

Government has been urged to be proactive in the fight against violent crime across the country to enable the citizenry to engage in their legitimate socio-economic endeavours peacefully.

This should however be complemented by citizens offering credible information as regards the hideouts and modus operandi of criminals who reside in their communities.

The Chairperson of the West Akyem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Reverend Dr. Kwame Amoah-Kumah made the call at an Ordination Service for 18 Presbyterian Ministers in Kumasi after successfully serving their two-year probationary period.

The ordination was performed by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey. Rev. Dr. Amoah-Kumah noted that the threat level of especially armed robbery in the country is something that cannot be discounted and urged the security agencies to do everything possible to ensure that citizens are safe and secured.

He reminded the new ministers that they are being ordained at a time when the church is facing countless challenges.

According to Rev. Dr. Amoah-Kumah, social vices are rampant, saying that corruption, dishonesty, truancy and disrespect for human dignity have become the order of the day in almost all sectors of the national economy.

He advised especially Christians to be mindful of their faith and obligation to be witnesses of Jesus Christ by exhibiting selflessness, honesty, patriotism and love for all manner of persons in their engagements.

To the newly ordained Ministers, Rev. Dr. Amoah-Kumah advised them to be guided by the Bible and the Holy Spirit in helping to address the ills of society.

He also urged them to be dutiful in evangelization and outreaches, youth nurturing, church planting and service to the less privileged in society.
