IVOR GREENSTREET STORMS ASHANTI

The Flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party, CPP, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet has, on behalf of the party, apologized to particularly Asantes for any actions or inactions in the past that led to some divisions, hurt and bitterness.

He said the CPP and the major political forces in the Ashanti Region have had their issues and differences in the past.

However, the CPP is pursuing a new covenant of reconciliation in view of the fact that the party in the past had a very strong presence in Ashanti and is determined to revive that vibrancy.

Mr. Greenstreet expressed the sentiment when interacting with journalists in Kumasi at the start of a six-day tour of Ashanti, christened “Apam Foforo”.

Ivor Kobina Greenstreet said although some parties may want to claim Ashanti Region to be their World Bank, the CPP acknowledges that Ashantis are very strategic in their thinking.

This , he noted gives the party hope, that come this year’s General Elections, people of Ashanti will vote massively for the CPP to take over the reins of government.

On policies to be implemented by the CPP Government under his Presidency, Mr. Greenstreet said the CPP will be investing a lot of money into agriculture especially enhancing the existing opportunities and requirements for cocoa, maize and cassava.

He said the CPP would put emphasis on feeder roads, irrigation and technical inputs for farmers as well as extensive services to make the whole sector attractive for work and for making money.

The CPP Flagbearer said the party since the year 2000 has made it clear that it is in favour of election of all District, Municipal and Metropolitan Chief Executives.

According to the CPP, this will ensure greater progress in development and accountability for all regions of Ghana.

As part of the first day of his six days tour of Ashanti, Mr. Greenstreet paid a courtesy call on the Kokofuhene, Barima Ofe Akwasi Okogyeasuo and then interacted with market women at Ejura.
