POLICE WARN DAGOMBAs NOT TO INSTALL NEW HEAD

ASP Yusif Mohammed Tanko-Police PRO
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has reminded all factions involved in the dispute over who has the right to install the Head of the Dagomba Community in Kumasi of an injunction by the Court.

The concerned factions must therefore refrain from holding themselves out as the rightful kingmakers or Dagomba Chief.

A statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Command, ASP Yusif Mohammed Tanko said available information to the Police suggests that one of the factions tried to

install a new Dagomba Chief last Sunday at Aboabo.

It said even though the police stopped the process, intelligence gathered indicate that the group later secretly installed someone as the new Dagomba Chief.

In a similar manner, the other faction is also alleged to have installed a rival chief.

The statement warned any person or group of persons who will hold any person out as the Chief of the Dagomba Community in Kumasi to desist from that intention adding that anyone who allows himself to be held out as a Dagomba chief prior to the declaration by the court would be arrested and prosecuted.

It therefore urged the general public, especially the Zongo community to report any group of persons whose activities have the potential of breaching the peace to the police for the necessary action to be taken.
