STREET MARCH IN KSI DAZZLED NPP-OYA

Organizers of yesterday's peaceful street march code-named "One Thousand March for Peace" have described the even as been very successful and even beyond their expectation.

According to the Secretary to the Organized Youth of Ashanti, OYA, main organizers of the procession, Vincent Kwabena Oppong, their target was to galvanize just one thousand genuine concerned residents of the Ashanti region to take part in the programme in a show of gratitude to President Mahama and his government for the numerous development projects being undertaken in the region, despite the various socio-economic challenges the nation is going through.

However, to the amazement of the organizers, the turn out was massive.

Speaking in an interview with Angel FM, a Kumasi-based private radio station, Mr. Oppong, however denied the use any placard that insulted or castigated anyone, saying that it was a deliberate plan to restrain participants of the march from doing anything untoward that could mar the intentions of the event.

yesterday, Tuesday, March 17, members of OYA, a civil society group aligned to the ruling National Democratic Congress in Ashanti as well as sympathizers,  embarked on a peaceful march through some principal streets of Kumasi to commend President Mahama and his government for the various developmental projects being undertaken in the Ashanti region.

The peaceful and well attended march was organised by the Organised Youth of Ashanti and supported by the Ashanti Regional branch of the NDC.

The march started at the cultural centre  and ended at the Asawase Dogo Moro Park with heavy security presence.

The procession sought to  commend President Mahama for his commitment to better the lives of the people in the Ashanti region, and accord him the needed encouragement to deliver on his mandate.

They carried placards some of which read, “JM nie, Projects nie', 'Keep the good work JM', John Mahama toaso', 'Rain or Shine I will vote John Mahama' and 'JM Asanteman da w’ase”.

The procession was attended by supporters and sympathizers of the NDC, some former executives and ministers of state, the Ashanti regional executives of the party, some metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives including NDC members of parliament, the John Mahama Fun Club based in Accra among others.

At the Asawasi Dogo Moro Park, party stalwarts including MPs, Chief   Executives and Regional executives took turns to address the members.

The District Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya, Nana Asare Bediako spoke on the 500 bed capacity military hospital at Aferi in the district.

The District Chief Executive for Sekyere Central, Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong said the perennial water problems in the district and other surrounding towns will soon be a thing of the past.

The Ashanti Regional Women’s Organizer of the NDC, Hajia Hajara  Sadique explained that the NDC’s using of the “Yentie Obiara” does not mean they are not ready to listen to constructive criticisms.

She said President Mahama is poised to address the current energy situation once and for all.
